Mumbai Man Gets Lifetime Imprisonment For Raping Minor Daughter-In-Law
Mumbai: Maharashtra court sentenced a 50-year-old man to life imprisonment on Monday, for raping his minor daughter-in-law in 2015.
According to the reports, the accused, a resident of Palghar village in Maharashtra worked as a driver in the government department. The police arrested the accused under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after the victim complained of rape. The court heard the submission made by the prosecution and the evidence submitted and found the accused guilty of rape. Additional Sessions Court Judge AU Kadam sentenced the accused to life imprisonment.
As per details, the victim was married to the son of the accused when she was 15 years old in 2015. Her husband was studying hotel management and used to be out of the house for the most part of the day. Taking advantage of this the accused raped the victim several times when other family members were away and warned her not to disclose this to her family members.
The victim complained about her father-in-law's rape to her husband and mother-in-law, but they ignored her. Unable to bear the assaults anymore, the victim went to the police station in Tulinj along with her family members and filed a case. The police then arrested the accused and produced him in court.
