Ongole: A minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by six persons in Ongole town. The 17-year-old girl, who hails from Nellapadu village in Guntur, was held captive for four days.

According to the Ongole police, the girl admitted her ailing grandfather at a private hospital in Vijayawada on June 10. During the time, she developed a friendship with a youngster who identified himself as Ramu, a taxi driver from Ongole in Prakasam district.

When the girl left for her village after the treatment, the two of them exchanged phone numbers. Upon learning of this friendship, the girl's mother tried to refrain her from pursuing it further. Upset with this, the girl left home and went to Ongole to meet Ramu on June 16 but was unable to reach him on his phone.

As she was waiting for him at the bus stand, a person named Balaji engaged in a friendly conversation with her. Later, he offered her shelter at his house until she obtains the taxi driver's address.

She was taken to a room in Sundaraiah Bhavan locality where Balaji and five of his friends sexually assaulted her for a period of four days. In the early hours of Friday, Balaji abandoned the girl in an unconscious state at the bus stand. After regaining consciousness, the victim complained to the police who rushed her to the hospital. As per the reports, the police have taken four of the accused into custody and have launched a manhunt for the other two members, who are absconding. It is learned that two of the accused are Intermediate students while the remaining four are Engineering students.
