Intermediate Student, Her Hostel Warden Commit Suicide

Kurnool: In an incident that shook the town, a final year Intermediate student of St. Joseph Junior College, Drakshayini (17) committed suicide followed by her hostel warden, Pushpavathi (24) also taking her own life. The 17 year-old from Karivena village in Atmakuru mandal, hanged herself on Saturday night, after writing a suicide note to her parents.

The college management informed the police after it took note of the death on Sunday morning. The body was then sent to the local hospital for post-mortem. Her parents said that she had been ill for four days and had been suffering from an ulcer.

Unable to bear the shock of her suicide, Drakshayini's hostel warden Pushpavathi, also hanged herself. She is said to have left a moving suicide note. The sole bread-winner of her family, the hostel warden is said to have been very friendly with the deceased student.

The college management has been tight-lipped on the incident . Kurnool police are probing the suicides.
