3 Killed While Returning To Hyderabad After Sankranti

Kodad: In a gruesome road accident, three members of a family were killed on the spot and five others suffered serious injuries when their car met with an accident at Komarabanda on NH-65 Vijaywada -Hyderabad highway near here Kodad on Wednesday morning.
The victims were identified as Venkata Naga Murali, 48, a businessman, his wife Kavitha, 38, an employee of Bank Of America and their daughter Dhanusha, 16 who was studying intermediate. Their son Yunith ( 8) who survived the accident suffered severe fractures and injuries, but is reported to be out of danger. They were returning from Nuzvid to Hyderabad after celebrating Sankranti.
According to District Superintendent of Police R. Venkateswarlu the accident occurred when the front right tyre of the car exploded and the car hit the median and flipped in the air crashing on to two cars that were going on the other side. The impact was so high that both the female victims were thrown out of the car and fell 16 meters away in the bushes . Kavitha's body was severed from the head up, while the body of the male victim which crash landed was stuck in the car as the air balloons also burst open and deflated at the impact . The body had to be extricated by rescuers.
The other cars on which the car landed were crushed and injured the occupants, a Gujarati family from Hyderabad and another family from Ramayanpet in Medak district. They were all treated and declared out of danger at the Kodad government hospital.
Mr. Venkateswarlu said the accident occurred due to over-speeding and a case was registered at the Kodad rural station. The bodies were handed over to the relatives in the evening after a post-mortem examination.
Andhra Pradesh home Minister Chinna Rajappa enquired about the incident and instructed the Kodad Police to look after the victims and ensure that they get proper medical care and also support the victims' families.
