Harassed For Dowry, Newly Married Woman Commits Suicide

Langer House: A married woman committed suicide by hanging herself. The incident took place on Tuesday in the limits of Langer house police station.

According to police, the deceased Lavanya (19) was the daughter of Ramulu and Lakshmamma. Lavanya fell in love with Mahesh, her neighbour. At first, their parents didn't approve of their relationship but the duo managed to convince their families eventually and got married on August 21. Later, they shifted to Rajeev Gandhi Nagar.

Mahesh works as a food delivery boy. Soon after their marriage, Mahesh started harassing her to bring extra dowry. A few days back, he sent her out of the house. The village elders mediated to bring them together. But Mahesh didn't change. Unable to bear the harassment, a depressed Lavanya hanged herself in the early hours of Tuesday. Mahesh found that she was dead and informed her family members. The police has filed a case and started probing the matter.

In a similar incident, recently a newly married bride committed suicide by hanging herself at Vishakapatnam district a few days ago. According to the victim's brother, Lankalapalli Krishna, Rohini (25) and Mohan Kumar got married on August 25th. Mohan works as Assistant Manager in a pharma company at Paravada, Vishakapatnam.

The couple used to live in an apartment at Kurmannapalem from September 3rd. On 27th night, when Mohan returned from his office, he found that wife hanging. Immediately, he informed his in-laws who reached the place on the same night. The victim's family filed a complaint in the police station.

The victim's family alleged that Rohini was unable to bear the harassment of her husband and committed suicide. Earlier, Rohini had complained to her parents about Mohan, but they convinced her and sent her back to him. They demanded severe action against Mohan Kumar.
