Woman Knocked Down: Accident Victim’s Parents Suspect Murder

Chennai: A woman was killed in a road accident at Walltax road, Chennai. The police are probing whether it is an accident or murder after the victim's father SI Tula Singam alleged that it is a pre-planned murder committed by the girl's maternal uncle and his son. Ramya used to work in a beauty parlor at Nungambakkam. On Monday night, she was returning from the parlor when her scooter was hit by a mini-lorry at Elephant gate, Waltax road. A severely injured Ramya died on the spot.

The police informed Ramya's parents who rushed to the hospital. They were shocked to see her dead and alleged that her maternal uncle and his son could be behind the murder which was made to look like an accident. The body was shifted for postmortem and the police handed it over to the family members the next day morning.

At first, the police filed an accident case and later they arrested the lorry driver Palani after investigating. The accident case was changed to one of suspicious death when SI Tula Singam objected to it. The police started investigating the case when her father claimed it was a planned murder.

The victim's father filed a case in Elephant gate police station against Cine Stunt master Ratnam and his son Etiraju who are close relatives of the victim's family. Singam suspected that his daughter was killed by the accused as a reult of an ongoing property dispute.
