Hyderabad Jewellery Store Owner Fights Thieves

Hyderabad: A couple entered a Jewellery shop in the guise of customers and thereafter attempted to loot the store. The incident happened in Beerumguda, Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Jayaram, owner of Bhavani Jewellery tried to fight the robbers to prevent robbery. However, he could not stop the robbery since the couple threw chilli powder in his eyes.

The robbers entered the shop at 9 PM and made shop owner believe that they
were customers. Jayaram was repeatedly asked to show a more jewellery designs for nearly 45 minutes. when he went to the store room to fetch more jewellery, the robbers followed him said the police.

Based on the CCTV footage inside the room, a masked man threatened Jayaram with a gun. A woman wearing burqa
is seen hitting and punching the shop owner. The fight went
on for more than ten minutes.

The police said that the robbers escaped with jewellery worth Rs 25 lakh and Rs 4 lakh in cash. The police suspect that the weapon seen in the footage was possibly a toy gun which was never used by the robber. They were yet to be identified as their faces were covered with masks.

The CCTV footage has been sent to other police stations in the state of Telangana.
Jayaram was admitted to a private hospital. Police suspect that one of the robbers was also injured in the fight.
