Controversy erupts over Rajinikanth’s Kabali Telugu distribution rights

Krishna Prasad and Praveen Kumar bagged Telugu rights for Rs. 30 crore - Sakshi Post

Rajinikanth’s Kabali, which is riding high on superstar’s stardom ahead of its release, has hit a roadblock in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

The row is over the distribution rights of the movie’s Telugu version. Even as producers Suresh Babu, Dil Raju, Abhisekh Pictures and Sudhakar Reddy of the Telugu film industry tried to buy the Telugu distribution rights for the movie, two greenhorns Krishna Prasad and Praveen Kumar pulled off a coup of sorts by bagging the Telugu rights for Rs. 30 crore. The duo also signed an agreement with producer Kalaipuli Thanu.

Meanwhile the Telugu Distribution Council has raked up a controversy involving Lakshmi Ganapathi Films which had incurred a huge loss on Vikramasimha, the dubbed version of Kochadiyaan and asked the duo to compensate for their loss.

“From the last few days, people from the distribution council have been harassing us demanding compensation to the loss that some producers incurred with some other film of Rajinikanth. They say both are Rajinikanth films, and therefore we have to compensate them for their loss. They should ask about it to Rajini sir or the producer of that movie. Why us?,” Krishna Prasad retorted.

Meanwhile it’s said that the council is demanding any compensation from producer Allu Aravind who bought the movie’s Krishna district rights.
