Cabbie Who Tried To Molest Woman Passenger Held 

Hyderabad: A cab driver was arrested for allegedly trying to molest a woman after offering her a lift, police said on Sunday. The incident took place on the night of January 5 but the accused was absconding.

Cab driver Madhukiran, 29, was arrested on Saturday, Kushaiguda police confirmed. The accused tried to rape the woman after giving her a lift, police said.The accused fled from the spot after the woman resisted his attempt and raised an alarm.

The police nabbed the accused after going through the CCTV footage of the area, the officer said. Madhukiran was also accused of molesting a minor girl a few months ago.

In a similar incident in August 2016, a cab driver deviated from the regular route in an incident involving an airhostess, who wanted to buy some medicines at 2am near Dairy Farm Crossroads in Rajendranagar. Instead, he took her on the Outer Ring Road with an intention to rape and rob her. After reaching an isolated place at Himayathsagar, he assaulted her and tried to rape her. The airhostess however, warded off his attempts.

The Rajendranagar police and Special Operations Team jointly tracked down the accused in the rape and robbery attempt on the airhostess within 24 hours of filing of the complaint and arrested him.
