Bank Manager Dies Of Work Pressure Due to Demonetisation 

Rohtak: Demonetisation claimed a bank manager's life here on Thursday after he stayed put at the bank for three consecutive days to help customers exchange their old currency notes.

The deceased, Rajesh Kumar, manager of a co-operative bank in Rohtak district of Haryana, died after he suffered severe heart attack. Besides customers, demonetisation of Rs.1000 and Rs.500 notes brought hardships on the bank employees as they had to work extra hours to exchange old notes and also help customers withdraw and deposit money. They worked even on second Saturday and Sunday and got only a day off on Monday on account of Guru Nanak's birth anniversary.

The work pressure resumed from Tuesday and Rajesh had been at the bank since Tuesday. He used to sleep in the bank at night as he feared he might get delayed for work if he went home and came back in the morning. He was suffering from cardiac-related ailments and was on medication. On Thursday morning, a security guard went to the cabin of Rajesh and knocked the door repeatedly but there was no respone. He then called other employees and they broke the door of the cabin only to find Rajesh dead in his chair. Rajesh's colleagues suspect he must have suffered a cardiac arrest due to the work pressure. The bank was closed for the day as a mark of respect for the deceased manager. Rajesh was survived by a wife and two children.
