AP Sizzles Under Heat Wave As Temperatures Touch 47 Degree Celsius

Amaravati/Vishakhapatnam/Tadepalli Rural (Mangalagiri): Andhra Pradesh is witnessing the scorching heat wave conditions throughout the state. Over the past week, temperatures have increased to a vast extent. Several places in the state have recorded a temperature of 47 degrees Celsius. On Friday, Tripuranthakam in the Prakasam district recorded 47.10 degrees Celsius. Temperatures are above 42 degrees in most parts of the state. As per the unofficial calculations, the death toll due to heat wave conditions in the state has reached 100.

On Friday, 28 people have died due to sunstroke. 10 people died in Nellore district, seven in Guntur district, four in YSR district, three in Visakhapatnam district, two in East Godavari district, one each in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts. However, the disaster management officials stated that seven people died due to heatstroke this summer so far.

According to a recent release by the State Disaster Management Department, starting from May 11 to 15, a number of places in the state will be observing temperatures ranging from 40 - 47 degrees Celsius. On Friday, high temperatures were recorded in many parts of the state. 18 Mandals in Prakasam district recorded temperatures between 44-47 degrees Celsius. The Real-time Governance Society (RGGS) has stated that the intensity of the heat wave conditions will be on the rise on Saturday as well and people should be alert.

In the next five days, temperatures will rise across the state within the next five days, according to the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority. The office at Tadepalli in Guntur district has released a statement on Friday. Accordingly, the temperatures recorded in different districts are as follows:

May 11:

46 - 47 degrees - Prakasam, Kurnool districts

43 - 45 degrees - Krishna, Guntur, Nellore, Chittoor, YSR, Anantapur districts

39 - 42 degrees - Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari districts

May 12:

45 - 46 degrees - Nellore and Chittoor districts

42 - 44 degrees - Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, YSR, Kurnool and Anantapur districts

39 - 41 degrees - Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari districts

May 13:

43 - 44 degrees - Nellore and Chittoor districts

41 - 42 degrees - Srikakulam, East and West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Kadapa, Kurnool and Anantapur Districts

38 - 40 degrees - Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam districts

May 14:

43 - 44 degrees - Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, YSR, Kurnool districts

41 - 42 degrees - Krishna, East and West Godavari districts

37 - 39 degrees - Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and Anantapur districts

May 15:

43 - 44 degrees - Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore, Chittoor, East and West Godavari districts

41 - 42 degrees - Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, YSR, Anantapur districts

38 - 39 degrees - Visakhapatnam district

On one hand, the state is experiencing severe heat conditions, mild rains are also being recorded in many regions. Moderate rainfall will be observed in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema in the coming three days. On Sunday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that heat wave conditions will be witnessed in regions of Coastal Andhra such as East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, and Nellore districts.
