Chandrababu Trying To Confuse People Over Form-7: YSRCP
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was getting increasingly nervous over the consequences of the massive data scam which is now rocking both the Telugu states and sending ripples across the nation, senior YSRCP leader and PAC Chairman Buggana Rajendranath Reddy said.
Addressing the media at the party‘s central office here, he said that the Chandrababu Naidu government constituted two special investigation teams in 48 hours. This itself points to the level of panic in the TDP leadership, Rajendranath Reddy said.
One SIT was set up under Balasubramaniam, an official of the rank of Additional Director-General of Police, Buggana pointed out, to probe the complaint regarding ‘data theft of TDP members’.
The second SIT was set up to investigate the issue of manipulation of electoral rolls in Andhra Pradesh, the senior YSRCP leader said.
What is Form-7
The PAC chairman flayed Chandrababu Naidu for trying to confuse people of the state on the subject of Form-7. Buggana clarified that Form-7 was a formal application used to inform the Election Commission that a certain individual was ineligible to vote.
In certain cases names are misspelled and addresses wrongly given. Form-7 is a form to correct such discrepancies, by deletion of such votes, he said. In all such cases the name and address of the applicant, along with that of the voter whose name has to be deleted, has to be submitted, he added.
For a long time the YSRCP has been maintaining that voters list is being manipulated in Andhra Pradesh. The senior YSRCP leader said that the party has been has been repeatedly stating that lakhs of bogus votes were there in the electoral rolls of the state.
There were two votes in one individual‘s name in several instances he pointed out. What is wrong in asking for one such vote to be deleted?, he questioned.
Buggana asked Chandrababu Naidu as to why he was getting jittery when Form-7 was being used to request the EC to scrutinise bogus votes.
The PAC chairman pointed out that the AP Chief electoral Officer Gopalakrishna Dwivedi had clarified that there was nothing wrong with applying through Form-7 for deletion of voters names in case of complaints of bogus voters or discrepancies.
Chandrababu Naidu was implicating those who submitted applications through Form-7 for scrutiny and deletion of bogus votes and pointing out discrepancies, in false cases. He was harassing the workers of YSRCP by foisting cases of non-bailable nature, the YSRCP leader said. The AP chief minister‘s actions were out of line with law.
The TDP government was harassing YSRCP workers, Buggana pointed out. He also added that it was the responsibility of the election commission to scrutinise applications received through Form-7 and act on them by addition or deletion of votes.
By foisting cases on YSRCP workers and leaders, Chandrababu Naidu was appropriating the authority of the election commission, the YSRCP leader remarked.
