AP Congress Leaders Divided About Poll Alliance With TDP

Andhra Pradesh Congress party president Raghuveera Reddy - Sakshi Post

Anantapur: With Andhra Pradesh gearing up for the elections, Congress party president Raghuveera Reddy is throwing hints about alliances of Congress party in the upcoming elections.

He said that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had finally got enlightened after 35 years of its inception and Congress supporters should be upbeat about the alliance, by keeping TDP's mistakes aside.

Raghuveera Reddy pointed out that politics at the centre was different from that of the state. It is learned that Raghuveera Reddy has already met AICC president Rahul Gandhi over the issue of forging alliances in the state. He opened up about the meeting and predicted that an announcement regarding the alliances will be made shortly. The Andhra Pradesh Congress president added that few leaders are for the alliance while a few other partymen were against it.

Raghuveera Reddy observed that it is because of the anti-farmer policies Guntur farmer Kothaiah passed away and confirmed that Congress was going to stay neutral on the issue.

It may be recalled that the Congress and TDP forged an alliance to contest in the recently held Telangana elections but failed miserably at the ballot box. However, KCR's Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) came back to power with a huge margin of votes. On the one hand, Chandrababu forged an alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2014 elections, but after four and half years TDP left the NDA alliance.

On the other hand, TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu has forged an alliance with the Congress party going against BJP and is in talks with the regional parties too.
