6 Killed As Lorry Rams Into Auto In East Godavari

Rajahmundry: Six people were killed and seven others injured after a tipper lorry rammed into an auto that the victims travelling in at East Godavari on Saturday.

The accident occurred when the women from Allavaram village were going to Lord Venkateswara Temple at Vadapalli. When they reached Modekuru, a speeding lorry (AP56TE5677) carrying sand from the opposite side collided with the auto (AP05TX7041) killing six people on the spot.

The injured were shifted to KIMS hospital in Amalapuram. The deceased are identified as Nagamani (46), Pillaa Saraswati (48), Pillaa Bhavani (25), P. Ananthalakshmi (45) and Durga.

The police registered a case and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
