Nellore: In a tragic road accident, three people have been killed when the bus they were travelling collided with a lorry near Kavali in Nellore district in the early hours of Friday.

According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Surya Kumarin (65), T Praveen (20) from Vijayawada, Pattabhi Ramadasu (57) from Mammidivaram. The bodies were shifted to Kavali government hospital for post-mortem.

The luxury bus belonged to Orange travels set off from Visakhapatnam on Wednesday afternoon. The bus was scheduled to arrive in Bengaluru on Thursday 10 am. As many 33 passengers were on board. After reaching Vijayawada, driver Girish Kumar of Vijayawada took over the shift. As the bus reached Maddoorapadu village near Kavali around 2 am in the morning, a lorry laden with palm oil waste rammed into the bus.

The driver Girish Kumar fled the place after the incident. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
