Hyderabad: Two people were given a three-day jail term for eve-teasing, here on Wednesday.

E. Upender and Suresh, natives of Prakasam district, eve-teased a girl between 9.30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on New Year’s eve at Bapu Nagar, under the S.R. Nagar police station (PS) limits. The case was heard by the 10th Special Metropolitan Magistrate, after which they were handed the three-day sentences.

The duo were caught and then booked under the recently initiated E-Petty cases, under which officials use a tablet to process and expedite the case instead of going through cumbersome paper work. The E-Petty case also displays the past criminal history, if any, of the offender.

In a similar incident, SHE teams of the city police arrested two college students for allegedly harassing and stalking a college girl. They were following the girl to the college at Abids since two weeks. The two accused were identified as Ahmed Bin Ali (23), a resident of Phoolbagh, and Mir Saifali Abedi, a resident of Chanchalguda. The victim had been frightened to the extent that she even stopped going to college, police said.

Following a complaint by the victim's father to the SHE teams, police apprehended the two accused.
