2 Dalits Who Were Tortured By Gravel Smugglers Go Missing 

Nizamabad: The two Dalit youths who were tortured by a gravel smuggler in Armoor went missing since their video appeared on social media last week. Families of Rajeshwar and Lakshman lodged complaints with the police.

The Dalit youths - Rajeshwar and Lakshman - were beaten up by one Bharath Reddy, a contractor who is alleged to have dug out gravel from government lands illegally. They were tortured by the contractor for questioning his illegal activity. Dalit organisations staged a dharna on highway at Naveepet demanding action against Bharath Reddy who not only tortured the youths but also abused them by taking their caste name. It was all clearly recorded in a video which went viral on social media. The tormentor forced the youth to take a dip in a murky water pond.

After the video appeared on social media, Rajeshwar and Lakshman were not seen by anyone in their village Naveepet. Their families fear that Bharath Reddy might have killed them. The police are yet to initiate any action to trace the missing youths. They have not taken any action against the accused so far.
