Woman Helps Facebook Friend To Steal Father’s Car

Chennai: A 28-year-old man was arrested on Friday for stealing the car of a Businessman in Kodambakkam area in the city. The accused has stolen the car with the help of the business man's daughter who is a Facebook friend.

According to the police, the daughter of the businessman Shanmugarajan was in need of money. As her father refused to give her cash, she sought the help of her Facebook friend Chandru to steal her father's car and sell it to meet the expenses. She has given a duplicate key to Chandru to drive the vehicle away.

Chadru has stolen the car Mahindra Xylo which costs over Rs10 lakh and tried to sell it.

On learning the car theft, Shanmugarajan lodged a complaint with the police last week. The police nabbed Chandru while he was trying to sell the car. On inquiry Chandru confessed the crime and told the police that it was the woman's plan to steal the car.

The woman admitted the crime while questioning. The police let off the woman with a warning and sent Chandru to jail.
