Lovers Commit Suicide After Parents Reject Marriage Proposal

Srikakulam: Unable to bear separation, a lovers' couple committed suicide by hanging themselves to a ceiling fan in a hotel room in Palasa-Kasibugga.

According to police, Ramachandra Bariko(25), a native of Parlakimamidi has completed ITI in Centurian Univeristy and joined in a contract based job in Mahendragada. Meanwhile, Ramachandra had fallen in love with Sukanti(17) who belongs to Deraba in the town. The duo would meet frequently and had decided to marry. But their parents refused to accept their love.

Feeling dejected over the elders' decision, the lovers on Friday went to Shankar lodge at Palasa and committed suicide. On Saturday morning, the lodge staff found the couple hanging to the ceiling and informed police. The police after preliminary inquiry informed their family members and sent the bodies for post-mortem.

On questioning the family members, the police found that the parents' rejection for marriage led them to end their lives. No suicide note was found with them.
