Guntur Woman Completes MBBS Along With Her Son

Guntur: A 54-year-old woman has completed her MBBS along with her son from NRI Medical College in Mangalagiri.

Lakshmi Sushilarani, who had a dream to become a doctor in her teenage, could not pursue the course due to some personal reasons at the time. However, she did not leave her ambition and has finally graduated along with her 23-year-old son. She joined the medical college five years ago, when she was 49-year-old. "My husband, who is an RMP doctor, encouraged me to fulfill my dream at this late age," she said. "As I did not have time to prepare for Eamcet, my husband has bought the seat in the college," she added.

Sushilarani's two sons and daughter-in-law are also doctors. All the family members have done MBBS from NRI Medical College. Lakshimi completed her course in April 2017 with second class marks.

"As there is a drastic difference in the age, no one came forward to accept me as their friend, when I joined the college," Sushilarani recalled her college days. But later, with my initiation, some of the girls became my friends," she said.
