YSRCP No Trust Vote Against NDA in Parliament Tomorrow

The YSRCP which has been relentlessly fighting for special category status to Andhra Pradesh has intensified its fight further. The party, under the able leadership of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, has decided to move a no-confidence motion against the BJP-led NDA government in the Lok Sabha on Friday, March 16 (tomorrow). The YSRCP has sought the support of all parties including the NDA's ally, TDP to its motion. The party decided to revise its strategy following whispers that the Parliament would be adjourned ahead of the scheduled date. Earlier, YSRCP had planned to move the no-trust vote on March 21.

YSRCP MPs are proactively engaged in establishing contact with parliamentarians of other national and regional parties. The leaders requested BJD leader Bhartruhari Mahtab, TDP MP Thota Narasimham, TRS MP Jitender Reddy among others to back their move.

On the other hand, the YSRCP MPs will resign on the day the Parliament is to be adjourned if their demands are not met. Earlier in the day, YSRCP MPs convened a meeting at the residence of Ongole MP, YV Subba Reddy. Shortly thereafter, the Ongole MP announced that a decision had been taken to move the no-trust vote earlier than planned. "There's no stepping back from our demand of Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh till SCS is granted to the state," he reaffirmed, spelling out the party stand. He pointed out that it was YSRCP alone which had been fighting for SCS to AP all along from the very beginning. He also observed that Chandrababu Naidu had mortgaged the interests of the state for selfish gains and it was only after the YSRCP put pressure on the Centre that the TDP fell in line. YV Subba Reddy added that it was heartening to see Pawan Kalyan finally breaking his four-year-old silence on the subject of special category status to the state.

Meanwhile, YSRCP MPs continued to protest outside the Parliament for SCS to AP. It may be recalled that earlier in the day YSRCP MPs Avinash Reddy, Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, Mithun Reddy, Vara Prasad and YV Subba Reddy rushed to the Speaker's Podium expressing their demand vocally. In the Upper House too, YSRCP MP Vijaysai Reddy intensified the protest on behalf of the party. The party MPs also held placards demanding special category status to AP.
