YSRCP Leaders Arrested In Delhi - Sakshi Post

New Delhi: The Delhi police this afternoon arrested top leaders of YSR Congress Party today here while they were peacefully protesting against the the centre's reluctance to give Special Category Status (SCS) for the state of Andhra Pradesh. The YSRCP along with the CPM and Congress party has been staging Mahadharna at New Delhi's Sansad Marg. The arrest of the leaders has made the situation tense for sometime in Sansad Marg.

As the part of the Mahadharna agitation, the YSRCP leaders were heading towards Central Home Minister Rajnath Singh's office to hand over a memorandum on the SCS issue. Even as the leaders and supporters of the agitation started their march towards Home Minister's office, the Delhi police arrested YSRCP MPs Vijaya Sai Reddy, Vara Prasad, YV Subba Reddy, Mekapati Raja Mohan Reddy, Mithun Reddy and others.

The leaders reacted in anger to the arrest. "We are ready to resign from our posts. These arrests cannot hinder our ambitions. Until we achieve the SCS for AP, we are not going to stop fighting," said the leaders.

Responding to the arrest of YSRCP leaders, MLA Thippa Reddy, party leaders Tammineni Seetharam, Vishwaroop, etc have condemned the centre for trying to curb the voice of the people of AP. "The TDP-BJP alliance is destroying the welfare of the state. We do not fear arrests and resignations," said the leaders.
