New Delhi: The YSR Congress Party-led (YSRCP) protest in Delhi for Special Category Status (SCS) is getting support from political parties, intellectuals and NGOs.

On Monday, CPI leader M Nageshwara Rao, AAP leader Rama Rao and Andhra Intellectuals' Forum President Chalasani Srinivas Rao among visited the dharna venue at Sansad Marg and expressed solidarity with the YSRCP. Later, CPI leader Ramakrishna and CPM secretary Madhu also joined the protesting YSRCP cadre.

Meanwhile, as part of the Mahadharna agitation, the YSRCP leaders were heading towards Central Home Minister Rajnath Singh's office to hand over a memorandum on the SCS issue. Even as the leaders and supporters of the agitation started their march towards Home Minister's office, the Delhi police arrested YSRCP MPs Vijaya Sai Reddy, Vara Prasad, YV Subba Reddy, Mekapati Raja Mohan Reddy, Mithun Reddy and others.

The leaders reacted in anger to the arrest. "We are ready to resign from our posts. These arrests cannot hinder our ambitions. Until we achieve the SCS for AP, we are not going to stop fighting," said the leaders.
