YSRCP Delegation Meets SP, Blames TDP MLA For Party Leader’s Death
A delegation of YSRCP leaders on Thursday met Anantapur SP to lodge a complaint in connection with the brutal murder of YSRCP leader Chenna Reddy of Dharmavaram. They blamed Dharmavaram MLA and TDP leader Varadapuram Suri for the murder and said the law and order situation was deteriorating in the district.
The delegation comprised MP Mithun Reddy, MLA Visweswar Reddy, former MLA Ananta Venkatrami Reddy, former MLA Kethireddy Venkat Rami Reddy, Topudurthi Prakash Reddy and Sankar Narayana.
Even as Leader of the Opposition and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is touring Anantapur as part of his 3000-km Praja Sankalpa Yatra, an active YSRCP worker Chenna Reddy was brutally done to death. The incident occurred near Badanapalli village in Dharmavaram mandal on Wednesday. The incident has sent shock waves in the region.
Unidentified assailants armed with sickles and swords attacked Chenna Reddy while he was supervising work at his fields in Badanapalli. Chenna Reddy died on the spot. Reddy has been active in the party from its inception and has been mobilising support for the party in Dharmavaram mandal. His rivals, who did not like his political activism, plotted his murder. YSRCP leaders charged the police with being lackadaisical in investigating political murders in Andhra Pradesh. They said cases were not being registered under pressure from the ruling party leaders.
