YS Jagan takes government to task over capital site issue
The issue of state capital rocked the AP Assembly on Wednesday with YSRCP insisting on a debate on the issue in view of the confusion created by the chief minister making statements on the capital site.
YSRCP chief and Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that he had no objection to the capital being set up anywhere including Krishna or Guntur, but said that the issue should be debated threadbare in the house.
Chandrababu Naidu is likely to make an official announcement on the new capital Thursday.
The YSRCP strongly objected and demanded that first it should be discussed in the assembly before any announcement was made.
After the house commenced at 9 am, the YSRCP moved the adjournment motion for the discussion over the new capital.
Speaking in the assembly, YS Jagan requested the speaker to tell when and how much time would be given for debate on the state capital issue.
Several MLAs surrounded the speakers podium, stressing the need for a discussion for an entire day before any announcement was made.
The YSRCP chief also urged that first a debate should be held on the AP capital issue and then Chandrababu should make an announcement. " After Chandrababu makes a statement, what is there to discuss? The decision should be taken after the debate ," Jagan asked. He also questioned the ruling members: "How a decision could be taken without any discussion in the assembly. What is the use of discussing in the house after CM made an announcement . "
Speaking to reporters after the house adjourned, YS Jagan said that his party was not against to any place. " We don't allow for unilateral decision on the capital."
