Belgaum: A video of villagers rescuing young devotees from flood waters at a temple in Belgaum town in Karnataka went viral on social media on Monday. They were rescued just in time, when the two girls and a boy were about to get sucked into the swirling waters.

Incessant rains have been lashing several parts of the Karnataka state for the past one week. The three of them, who had gone to a temple, were returning when the incident took place.

They clung on to queue rods installed in front of the temple and were looking for help. The locals, who noticed them, bravely rescued them and brought them to a secure place.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), forecasts rain all over the Southern India for the next five days. Bengaluru received the highest record rainfall in the past 115 years.
