Villagers Rename Khanapur As Kavithapur As A Mark Of Gratitude To MP 

Hyderabad: Roads and villages being named after great leaders, scientists and renowned personalities is a common practice in India. Mostly, this honor is given to people when they are no longer alive after a long public service. But here is an instance of young politician Kavitha getting the honor by villagers of Khanapur in her Lok Sabha constituency. The people of Khanapur village in Nizamabad have renamed their village as Kavithapur after Telangana Chief Minister KCR's daughter and TRS MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha.

The villagers have decided to officially call their village Kavithapur from December 4 which they feel is an auspicious day.

Khanapur is a Gram Panchayat in Armur mandal of Nizamabad. Kavitha got this special honor from Khanapur villagers after she promised the 274 families of the village to build double bed-room houses in a different place as their village which is on the low-level side constantly faces the threat of floods due to the Sriram Sagar project on the banks of river Godavari.

The villagers urged officials to take steps in this regard and have installed flexi-boards at the entrance of Khanapur.

The renaming is an expression of their gratitude to the MP who had assured them of rehabilitation and resettlement. The MP had assured them that 274 2BHK houses would be constructed for the villagers. Sarpanch Mamatha Naresh says that the villagers were unanimous in their decision to change the name of the village. The village Panchayat unanimously passed a resolution to this effect.

Revenue officials are taking all measures to make the change of village name official. Armoor TRS MLA A. Jeevan Reddy said he will cooperate with the officials in renaming the village officially.
