UoH Research Scholar Appeals For Financial Aid To Study In London

Sailu Pattepu, a research scholar in Theatre Arts at the University of Hyderabad - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Sailu Pattepu, a research scholar in Theatre Arts at the University of Hyderabad needs financial aid to study in London which would cost around Rs31 lakh. He secured a place to study Masters in Drama and Movement Therapy at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama at the University of London.

He comes from an agricultural family from a village of Hegdoli in Nizamabad district and dreams of becoming a drama therapist.

Although he received a scholarship of £3,000, that doesn’t suffice for his study. He had collected money from his relatives and promised to pay back with interest but he still requires Rs15-16 lakh more and he needs to pay the course amount soon as September 27 is the deadline.

"I have taken help from my relatives but I still require huge amount. I hope the government comes forward to help me," said Sailu. He says that his course would help him to help deal with mental health as drama therapy involves theater techniques and processes with psychology.

"There are rampant suicides in India and I come from a rural background where farmers suicides are more and I feel that psychological pedagogy can deal with such issues," he adds. If you would like to contribute you can reach him at saipattepu@gmail.com
