Unable To Understand English, Teenage Girl Commits Suicide

Hyderabad: A 17-year-old girl studying at a polytechnic college committed suicide as she was unable to understand subjects taught in English medium.

A first year student of Government Institute Of Electronics College at East Marredpally here in the city, Anusha was reportedly dejected over her performance in academics.

A native of Timmanagudem village of Kanagal mandal in Nalgonda district, Anusha had passed out Class X with distinction from the local government high school.

She happened to secure a seat in polytechnic college in the city. As days passed, Anusha had been struggling with concepts taught in English, which was the medium of instruction in the institution.

During the Dasara vacation, Anusha went to her native village to meet her parents — Nallabothu Saidulu and Lakshmamma. On Tuesday night, Anusha allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan at her house while her parents were in deep sleep.

Following the complaint from her parents, a case has been registered and investigation is on. Meanwhile, Anusha's friends in the college said that she had been struggling with her academics and could not overcome depression.
