TRS wins Siddipet civic body, but fails to make a clean sweep - Sakshi Post

The Telangana Rashtra Samiti has bagged the Siddipet municipal corporation.

However, the dreams of making a clean sweep in all the 34 wards like the party did in Mahabubnagar's Achampet, could not fructify as the party had to be content with just 22 seats.

Significantly, Siddipet has always handed out impressive victories to the TRS and is considered Irrigation Minister Harish Rao's pocket burrough. This time around, the party aimed at clean sweep and managed to get six of its nominees get elected unopposed. However, in the final tally, the party had to remain content with just 22 seats, conceding 12 seats to others.

Independents have bagged seven seats. Of them, six are TRS rebel candidates, while the other one is a TDP rebel candidate. The BJP and the Congress won two seats each, while MIM managed to win one seat.
