This is our chance to prove party strength: Vijayamma

The extensive party meeting of the YSR Congress is underway at Lotus Pond to  finalise the strategy to be followed ahead of the local body elections.

Over 150 leaders including party CGC and CAC members are present at the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, YSRCP honorary president YS Vijayamma appealed to the party leaders to work in unity. She said it was important to work together (as a team) for the success of the local body polls in terms of earning majority of seats.

She told the party leaders to choose able candidates on behalf of the party in villages. "Village level leadership should be strong for success in the polls. This is a good chance to show our party strength," she added.

She said that government was still a minority and only continuing because of the support of TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu. With the main opposition party (TDP) backing Kiran's government, the heavy tax has become a huge burden on the public. "Since the day YSRCP was formed, Congress and TDP have joined hands to tarnish our image. They will adopt the same strategy in the polls too," she said.
