Telangana State Felicitates Vice President Venkaiah Naidu

Hyderabad: Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu was felicitated by Telangana State government here on Monday.

Thanking the government for the civic felicitation, Mr. Naidu assured that despite being in a constitutional position as Vice President, he will try his best to pursue the issues pertaining to the development of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh as the two states are like his two homes. He called upon the Chief Ministers of both the states to resolve all issues and disputes through debate in a flexible manner.

Stating that the fruits of Independence are yet to reach the common man fully, the VP said the ultimate goal of every leader and legislator at state and central level should be to see that the last man in the queue got the benefits of the growth and development of the country.

Venkaiah Naidu also said the governments should make all efforts to protect and preserve the native cultures and languages. "I advise both the Telangana and AP governments to make Telugu proficiency a compulsory qualification for all jobs," he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said it is a great honor for Telugu states having a Telugu man in the nation's second highest post of Vice President. Recalling his long acquaintance with Mr. Naidu, KCR said Mr. Naidu will enhance the honor of Vice President post with his long experience in politics and public service. He thanked Mr. Naidu for giving the state the first opportunity to felicitate him.

Governor ESL Narasimhan, Union Minister for Labor Bandaru Dattatreya, Depury Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari, ministers and legislators participated in the felicitation.
