Will Congress Dominate In Thungathurthi, Alair?

The Thungathurthi assembly constituency (SC) in the undivided Nalgonda district was host to a close contest between the TRS's Gadari Kishore and the Congress's Addanki Dayakar. With a slight margin of 2,379 votes, the TRS in 2014 defeated Addanki Dayakar, who played a major role during the Telangana agitation.

However, Addanki Dayakar ensured he does not lose ground by lending his voice against the government as the party's State official spokesperson. This time around, it wasn't easy for the Congress candidate to have secured a second chance to contest. As things stand, it appears Gadari Kishore would have tough time facing the Congress's swing in the region. Thungathurthi has a total voter count of 231,369.

The Alair assembly constituency (SC) in the undivided Nalgonda district was one among the many constituencies which were swept away in the Telangana wave in 2014. As is the case with many constituencies, TRS sitting MLA Gongidi Sunitha is facing a backlash over several issues in the constituency. She defeated Boodida Bhikshamaiah Goud of the Congress by 31,477 votes in the constituency with 209,266 total votes.

Senior leader Motkupalli Narsimhulu, who resigned from the TDP recently, was elected to the Assembly on five occasions from Alair. With the Congress-TDP alliance in the fray, Bhikshamaiah Goud has an edge over his TRS counterpart
