Telangana Polls 2018: KCR’s Flying Visit To Constituencies

Hyderabad: As the election date approaches, the campaining of the parties is in full swing. Now that the final candidates lists are also released. All the contestants are getting ready for a face off with the opponents. While road shows by prominent parties have begun. The ruling Telangana Rastra Samiti (TRS) is going to fly their star campaigner to various public meetings. Caretaker Chief Minister K. Chandra Shekar Rao is all set use the chopper being the star campaigner for the pink party. The TRS has been granted permission for helicopter tours to 29 locations across various districts in Telangana, according to a report in a leading English daily.

TRS Party chief K. Chandrashekar Rao will travel in helicopter (Aircraft-AW 169), this particular chopper has a seating capacity for two crew members and eight passengers, operated by Global Vectra from November 21 to 25 as a part of the election campaign. TRS party is supposed to shell out for the expenditure incurred.

TRS general secretary  and MLC  professor M. Sreenivas Reddy, said that the KCR chose the helicopter to cover all assembly constituencies of TS, to promote the party programmes and policies to the people.  “Currently no specific budget has been allocated, but money is released based on number of trips made in a day, and the helicopter is a used one. We have asked the chief election officer to give necessary instructions to the returning officers to make preparation for helipads, landing and takeoff,” he said.

He further added, “Other star campaigners of the TRS  like MP K. Kavitha , K. T Rama Rao or T. Harisha Rao and others  will not travel in the same helicopter, and instead can opt for another aircraft and the party will bear the expenditure.”

In the recent Karnataka general elections such helicopter tours were seen, it was BJP, which sought the permission from EC for 90 times, while the Congress 29. But the demand for helicopters was seen in Uttar Pradesh, where at least 15 helicopters  ferried  the leaders across the skies.

As the nominations came to an end, national leaders are about to take road rallies across the state, beginning with BJP President Amit Shah, who will run a 3-day campaign on November 25, 27 and 28.

AICC chief Rahul Gandhi and AP chief minister Chandrababu Naidu are likely to be seen together promoting Mahakutami, in the campaign to be held on November 28 and 29. While KCR is planning to cover 66 constituencies by addressing 28 public meetings across the state.
