EC Gets 2,520 Complaints Through Mobile App

Hyderabad: A staggering number of 2,520 complaints have been submitted through C-Vigil, a mobile application launched by the Election Commission of India, an Android-based application developed to report breach of the model code of conduct.

A total of 1,483 cases upon verification were taken into consideration of all complaints made and others were let go.

Peddapalli district recorded a total of 173 complaints, followed by Medchal-Malkajgiri (166) and Jagtial (162). Only one authentic complaint was reported from Warangal (Rural) district.

The EC has informed that it takes 10 minutes to upload a complaint and a 100 minutes for returning officer to take action on it.

If the complaint is found to be true, the information is then sent to the EC. The EC later, sends its personnel to the action site in 15 minutes. The team takes 30 minutes to verify the complaint and submit a report. The Returning Officer, needs another 50 minutes to finish the procedure.

Chief Electoral Officer Dr Rajat Kumar said the app will counter violations and wrong-doings to the model code of conduct.
