Congress Infighting Delays Announcement On Final List

AICC screening committee chairman Bhakta Charan Das - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: The Congress high command has once again put off the announcement on the final list of candidates. However the tentative date has been fixed, which is in the beginning of the coming week. The reason behind the delay seems to be internal fight for tickets and also the seat allocations with the Mahakutami allies.

AICC screening committee chairman Bhakta Charan Das said in Delhi that the list would be public on November 12 or 13. The only relief to the Congress amidst all this noise and commotion is the assurance from CPI Telangana state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy that the party would not leave the alliance.

Das also said the party would allocate 25 seats to the BC community of which 20 BC candidates had already been selected. He added that it is not feasible to release a list till all the candidates were picked.

AICC general secretary and TS Congress incharge R.C. Khuntia made a statement two days ago that the first list would be released on November 10. AICC screening committee chairman Bhakta Charan Das in Delhi condemned reports that Congress party was selling tickets. Das also extended his support to the BC leaders who were protesting at AP Bhavan demanding more seats for the community.

Mahakutami leaders Venkat Reddy and L. Ramana discussed an action plan and were later joined by Telangana Jana Samiti president Prof. M. Kodandaram.

After that, there was a meeting between Venkat Reddy, Prof. Kodandaram Telangana Inti Party chief Cheraku Sudhakar and Congress leaders N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and R.C. Khuntia. The meeting came to an end with out a conclusion.

Venkat Reddy said the CPI would not leave the Mahakutami, though CPI was unhappy with the Congress announcement on seat-sharing without discussing it with them. Venkat Reddy said parties should have a give and take policy while sharing seats and expressed the hope that the whole process would come to an end in a day or two. TI party chief Sudhakar said he wanted three seats but was only given one Nakrekal constituency, which will be contested by his wife Lakshmi.
