Telangana State Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar - Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: Telangana State Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar clarified that the Assembly elections would be held by the end of the year and that the Election Commission was gearing up for conducting the polls. He added that the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the electoral rolls would be ready by October 4 and October 8 respectively.

In view of the sudden dissolution of the Assembly, we are preparing for conducting the elections in a very short time while in the other States there is an availability of three months time, he mentioned. If the Central Election Commission expresses satisfaction over the arrangements to conduct polls in the State, a decision would be made about the election date, he added. Saying that the media reports on the election dates were not true, he said that no decision was made in that regard.

The officer spoke to media after inaugurating the Election Media Cell in the State Secretariat. "During the second spell of the special voter re-adjustment drive conducted on September 10 and by the September 25 deadline for submission of queries and complaints on the electoral rolls, 13,15,234 applications and complaints have been received. At the rate of one lakh applications per day, the program received good response," he announced.
