Aam Aadmi Party To Contest In 119 Telangana Constituencies

AAP leader Somnath Bharti - Sakshi Post

New Delhi: Like never before in history, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which had created a sensation in Delhi by winning 67 of the 70 Assembly seats in 2015, is planning to contest seats in the upcoming Telangana Assembly elections. In an attempt to make a foray into south Indian politics, the party has announced that it would contest all the 119 Assembly constituencies in Telangana. Although the Arvind Kejriwal-led party was largely unsuccessful in the elections in various States, it is confident of making an impression in the State. In this respect, AAP South India In-charge Somnath Bharti said that the party was preparing to contest in the elections.

Somnath said that several former IAS, IPS officers and important leaders from other parties have already shown interest in joining the party. Criticizing caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for making promises that would not be possible to implement, he said that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Chief surpassed Prime Minister Narendra Modi in making false promises.

The AAP leader announced that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal would soon visit Hyderabad. Asked if AAP would join the Congress-led grand alliance in the State, he clarified that it would be impossible.

"We have a proven track record in Delhi, where we have shown that if given a chance, common people would create wonders in governance. We want to repeat the same in Telangana as well. Very soon, AAP's candidates and election manifesto would be announced," he added.
