14th Finance Commission Did Not Rule Out SCS, BJP Lying: Cong

New Delhi: Congress Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for falsifying the people of Andhra Pradesh over the 14th Finance Commission's recommendations on the Special Category Status (SCS) provision. The BJP is indulging in spreading lies, and that is why it is trying to mislead by claiming that the Finance Commission suggested abolishing the SCS. "How can only the BJP notice things none of the others fail to notice?" he questioned the government during the proceedings in Rajya Sabha today.

The Congress leader said that the fight for SCS was getting intensified day by day. As the fight for SCS continues, former Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is trying hard to make it a reality, he added.

In view of the government's failure in the implementation of the promises made by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as part of the AP Reorganization Act, the Congress MP placed a private member resolution in the Upper House today. The resolution is likely to be taken up for discussion at around 2:30 pm tomorrow.
