WhatsApp Dark Mode To Increase Battery Life, Soothe Eyes

WhatsApp is all set to launch the long-awaited Dark Mode feature. This feature will be updated in the second half of this December or early in the next year.

Dark Mode, as the name goes, will provide a black background, which is pleasing to the eye, as compared to the existing white background.  Apparently, this mode will enhance the battery life of smartphones.

Tech giant Google has agreed that the Dark Mode, when compared with its predecessor the white-themed Material Design, consumes about 43% lesser power in full brightness to “normal mode”. Other popular Google applications such as and Google Maps already support dark mode. It is also a feature in Google’s latest Android version, Android Pie.

The news about the new avatar of the mobile application Whatsapp, the Dark Mode feature was first disclosed in September this year. The visual representation of WhatsApp’s Dark Mode is to be revealed yet. It’s believed to be on the same lines as WhatsApp’s UI on Windows Phone smartphones.

Wabetainfo a popular website, which keeps track of the latest updates to the platform recently tweeted that, Dark Mode is still under development.

Whatsapp's mother company Facebook is also planning to bring out a similar update of Dark Mode on its Messenger, Facebook is the second most popular messaging application after WhatsApp.
