TDP Men Attack ‘Waterman’ in Amaravati

Amaravati: Ramon Magsaysay awardee and world famous 'Waterman of India' Rajendra Singh was attacked by TDP activists in the Amaravati region on Friday. The TDP activists pelted stones at him.

Rajendra Singh was conducting a Pada Yatra opposing the capital construction on Krishna river bed. Rajendra Singh visited the capital area as part of his ‘Krishna Nadi Parirakshana Yatra’. He said he was not against the setting up of the capital city, but pointed out that he was opposed to concrete construction on the river bed which is hazardous for enviroment. He launched the 1,080-km yatra on August 2, which will end on August 15.

TDP men from Venkatapalem, Tullur, Krishnayapalem, Mandadam, Rayapudi and Nelapadu raised slogans against him and pelted stones at him.

Later speaking to media persons, Rajender Singh said he was surprised by the attack. He said he had never expected such an attack, but vowed to continue his yatra and the fight for the protection of environment.
