TDP Leader Attacked By Own Party Men

Guntur: Rivalry between two groups in TDP led to violence in Guntur district on Thursday when supporters of one group came after Nallapaneni Amarnath with knives and grievously injured him. The real motive behind the attack is however unclear.

Amarnath was immediately shifted to a hospital where he is presently being treated. It has also been reported that an hotel owned by Amarnath was also attacked.

As both, the attackers as well as the victim belong to Telugu Desam party, the real reason for the attack has not yet been ascertained. Sources however point out that the attack could be act of retribution to a fall out between the two groups, which took place at a recent constituency party meet on Wednesday.
