Tamil Actress Opens Up On Sexual Harassment In The Industry

Chennai: Close on the heels of the abduction and alleged rape of a Malayalam actress here is a similar story of an Tamil actress being asked for sexual favours by a programming head of a private television channel.

The actress is Tamil superstar Sarath Kumar’s daughter Varalakshmi who revealed the details about misbehaviour by the programming head in a letter she tweeted. The actress said she was in a meeting with the said programming head when at the end of the meeting he asked her if they could meet outside. When she asked if it was work related, he is said to have told her ‘for other things’. Trying to hide her surprise and disgust, Varalakshmi told him to leave.

Varalakshmi goes on to mention that people tend to take actress in the industry and woman in general for granted. Calling on woman to speak out, she says men should be presented with only two choices of “Either stop disrespecting women or GET OUT’.
