Stop praising Modi, Congress tells Tharoor - Sakshi Post

The Congress is upset over its MP and former minister Shashi Tharoor praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kerala state vice-president MM Hassan asked hiruvananthapuram MP to stop praising Modi.

Tharoor has been praising Modi for the past few days on one issue or the other. Soon after Modi invited him to join the Clean India campaign, Tharoor tweeted he was 'honoured to accept the invitation of PM @narendramodi to join Clean India campaign'. This has set cat among the pigeons in Kerala Congress.

Tharoor has been keeping aloof from the local leadership. He had not participated in any party organisational programmes in Kerala.

"Tharoor should immediately end this Modi praise because many of Tharoor's statements go against the party's overall interest," said party vice-president Soornad Rajashekeran.

Tharoor reacted through Facebook by saying "The prime minister pitched his appeal as a non-political one and I received it in that spirit. I am a proud Congressman and a proud Indian. In short: not pro-BJP, just pro-India!".
