Global football governing body FIFA has announced the list of Best Men's Player award nominees for the 2017-2018 season, which includes French World Cup hero Kylian Mbappe, Croatian midfielder, Golden Ball winner Luka Modric, Belgian star Eden Hazard and Egyptian star footballer Mohamed Salah, besides regular features Cristiano Ronaldo and Leonel Messi.

Although the list of nominees is justified based on the performances both in club and international football, the exclusion of Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr. has raised eyebrows.

The Paris Saint German forward netted 25 goals in 28 appearances for club and country in the 2017-18 season. Last year, the former Barcelona player was transferred to PSG on a record breaking £222 million transfer from the Spanish giants.

Here's the FIFA Best Men's Player award nominees for 2017-2018—Cristiano Ronaldo, Leo Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah, Antoine Griezmann, Eden Hazard, Harry Kane, Luka Modric and Raphael Varane.

With a series of spectacular performances in France'e World Cup win, 19-year-old Mbappe earned a place in the Best Men's Player award nominee list, alongside countrymen Antoine Griezmann and Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane. Another France player, Paul Pogba impressed in the later stages of FIFA World Cup 2018.

African footballer of the year Mohamed Salah, however, suffered an upset both in Liverpool's attempt to win the Champions League and Egypt's World Cup campaign. The Egyptian missed the opening game in the World Cup with an injury.

Cristiano Ronaldo, the current FIFA Best Men's Player, played a huge part in Real Madrid's third consecutive Champions League win this year.

On the other side, FIFA also announced nominees for the Coach of the Year 2107-18 award. Full list of the nominees include: Massimiliano Allegri (Juventus), Stanislav Cherchesov (Russia), Zlatko Dalic (Croatia), Didier Deschamps (France), Pep Guardiola (Manchester City), Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool), Roberto Martinez (Belgium), Diego Simeone (Atletico Madrid), Gareth Southgate (England), Ernesto Valverde (Barcelona), Zinedine Zidane (Real Madrid).
