Sorry Spectacle Over Sarees: Women Trade Punches At Saidabad

TRS Government's ambitious Batukamma saree distribution scheme had an unlikely consequence in Hyderabad's Saidabad. Faulty queue line management caused commotion and women fought pitched battles for the sarees. They pulled each other''s hair and traded punches over the issue of saree distribution.

The incident occurred at the Saraswathi Sisu Mandir centre. The women quarreled in the queue line and fought each other. The efforts of the police officials to bring the situation under control failed. Later, the officials had sent away the quareling women.

There were reports of women rejecting the sarees at several places because of their low quality. In some places, women made a bonfire of the sarees.
