Rs 740 Cr disaster fund for AP: Shinde - Sakshi Post


Union Home Minister Susheel Kumar Shinde on Sunday said infrastructure facilities would be provided in the coastal areas with the financial assistance of World Bank as part of National Disaster Management programme.

The programme which would be executed in three phases would be envisaged with Rs 1500 crore in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha in the first phase. Roads, bridges and training programmes to alert people during the calamities like cyclones would be taken up and the State was earmarked Rs 740 crore for this purpose, Shinde said.  Priority would be given to the State in the second phase, said Marri Sasidhar Reddy, National Disaster Management vice-president. Shinde, earlier laid foundation stone for a bridge to be constructed at a cost of Rs 8 crore at Modi village in Kalla mandal of West Godavari. Speaking on the occasion, MP Kavuri Sambasiva Rao said Shinde has all qualities to become prime minister.
