Rs 4 Crore Worth Cigarettes Stolen From Truck

Hyderabad: In a daring day-light robbery, unidentified persons waylaid a container truck, thrashed the driver and made away with cigarettes worth Rs 4 crore, on Saturday.

The truck was transporting cigarettes from Musheerabad to Tirupati in Chittoor district. As the lorry reached Pedda Amberpet, about 20 persons arrived in two Sumo SUVs and stopped the truck. Few people took the driver to a forest area near Malkapur and thrashed him before leaving him there. Others, transferred the cigarettes from the truck to another vehicle that they brought along with them.

The driver managed to reach Choutuppal police station and lodged a complaint.
