His film Veerappan drew a lot of bad reviews. Yet the maker took a dig at journalist Shilpa Jamkhandekar for writing badly about his film. He slammed her in a tweet saying, “So as per your review “Veerappan” the film is as beautiful as your face. If someone becomes personal in bitching the film maker can also bitch abour the person in return."

While the entire nation was in low spirit after Team India lost to Australia, it was RGV's tweet that added fuel to the fire. He tweeted that he is happy that India lost as he hates cricket. "If there's anything I hate more than cricket then it's people who love cricket."
