Railway Official Caught Red Handed Accepting Bribe in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: CBI, Hyderabad has registered a case against Sh. K. Venkateshwara Rao, Group General Manager (Civil), RITES, Project Office, Secunderabad on the basis of source information about demand of illegal gratification of Rs.15.00 Lakhs towards clearing of pending RA bills to the tune of Rs.1.5 crores, out of a total contract value of Rs 11 Crores. The case was registered on Saturday under Sec.120-B IPC and Sec.7, 12, 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of PC Act 1988,

Discreet verification had revealed that Sri K. Venkateshwara Rao, GGM (Civil), RITES, Project Office, Secunderabad was indulging in corrupt practices and was actively involved in awarding contracts to various contractors after collecting huge bribe amounts. Recently RITES Ltd. had awarded contract works to M/s K.V.R. Infrastructure Ltd. rep. by Sri M. Raj Kumar, Dindigul, Tamil Nadu for Rs.11.00 crores and presently the 6th RA bill amounting to Rs.1.5 crores (approximately) was pending clearance. Sri K. Venkateshwara Rao, GGM, RITES demanded an illegal gratification of Rs.15.00 lakhs for clearing the pending bills of Sri M. Raj Kumar, Prop. of M/s K.V.R. Infrastructure Ltd. Sri M. Raj Kumar deputed his Project Manager Mr. Shankar to deliver Rs.15.00 lakhs as demanded.

After registration of the case, a trap was laid and the accused Sri K. Venkateshwara Rao was caught red handed while accepting the bribe amount of Rs.15,00,000/-. Both the accused Sri K. Venkateshwara Rao and Mr. Shankar were arrested and searches are being conducted at the office of accused Sri K. Venkateshwara Rao, his residential premises and hotel room of Sri Shankar. Some incriminating documents seized. The accused will be produced before the Hon’ble Principal Special Judge for CBI cases on 29.04.2018.
